Inosync - Another file synchronization service, written in python, with the intention to replace rsync (Section 2.10↓)+chron. Lsyncd - Lsyncd is another live synchronization tool written in Lua. Such systems include HA-clusters, HPC-clusters, COWs and server farms. It also offers the ability to synchronize with online Git Repositories such as GitHub and BitBucket .Ĭsync - csync is another file synchronization program desgined to allow for roaming Linux home directories.Ĭsync2 - csync2, like csync, is a file synchronization tool but designed with complex systems in mind. Sparkle Share - This file synchronization system also offers versioning using the Git versioning tool. BITTORRENT SYNC REMOVE FOLDER WINDOWSUnison - The featurefull tool for Unix and Windows systems offers features that are shared by other tools such as configuration management packages, distributed filesystems, mirroring and synchronizers. RetroShare - A fully decentralized and mature commincation platform which already supports a large amount of P2P interaction and the ability to add further functionality in the form of plugins. The current synchthing has support for formation of clusters, synchrnonization of directories between nodes, detecting changes, discovery of new nodes and a HTTP GUI.Ĭhubby - A commerical dropbox competitor which offers P2P synchronisation. Syncthing - An implementation built using Go . Hive2Hive - Hive2Hive is a relatively mature Java library that claims to offer P2P file synchronisation and sharing. It implements its own protocol (also titled clear skies) which, unlike BitTorrent Sync, is open so as to be auditable for security. The page separates the solutions into three separate categories:ĬlearSkies - Clearskies describes itself as DropBox-like and inspired by BitTorrent Sync. The Libre Planet page contains a curated listed of the best alternatives to BitTorrent Sync. The drive towards an alternative has been spearheaded by a Libre Planet (a space for organising free software development) group. Of the many projects that they have listed, a free software replacement for BitTorrent Sync is one of them. The Free Software Foundation has listed software projects which they deem to be of high priority and importance. Once again, as described in subsection 1.1.1↑, other users could help to alleviate the need for administrators to be constantly online by keeping encrypted mirrors of the new tweets on their drives until the administrators apporove or deny them. This system could possibly be improved by adding more administrators. Posts into this folder will then synchronize with all other users. If the administrator decides that this post is fit to be shared with everyone then they will move it out from the folder corresponding to the original user and into a special folder for all post. This folder is only synchronized with the administrator and is denoted by the smaller squares withing the administrator space. If a user wishes to make a post they it will be placed in the folder denoted by the smaller rectangle inside their user space in Figure 1.3↑. The main way to see and synchronize posts is via the area marked Group Contents. In Figure 1.3↑ the Administrator is represented by the large rectangle above the users (the smaller squares).
